Dr. Sax (Ralph Thomas) has become a Steady Sax Player with Bullettown.

Dr. Sax (Ralph Thomas) returned  to Jackson After spending 4 years in Jacksonville, Fl.   While in Jacksonville he played in three popular bands: The Company Ink (thecompanyink.com),  Mid-Life Crisis (mid-lifecrises.net) and an R & B Band featuring Guitar Red, a long-time member of the famous Tams.  Before Jacksonville, Dr. Sax had his own society band, "The Classics," right here in Jackson, TN.  "The Classics" played wedding receptions and corporate parties on a regular basis. While in Jackson, Dr. Sax also traveled coast to coast as saxist in the Carl Perkins' band.  "Doc," as Carl called him, was a regular of the band during the last 5 years of Mr. Perkins' life.  Dr. Sax is still called for studio work in Chicago, Memphis,  and Nashville.  Before Tennessee, Ralph was a full time musician in Chicago doing studio work for the late Curtis Mayfield during Curtis' Super Fly days.  While in Chicago Ralph played in Big Muddy recording artists for Paramount Records  gigging in college towns all over the country.  Big Muddy still packs the house every July 4th during their reunion concert at the famous Cubby Bear accross from Wrigley Field in Chicago.  He has also played in the sax section with Ray Charles, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, and The Four Tops.

Before Chicago, Dr. Sax played in groups in Champaign, Illinois including CoalKitchen (recording artis for Full Moon Epic) and in Carbondale, Illinois with "Big Twist and the Mellow Fellows ",  "Heavy Water",  and "The Rainy Daze".  Doc attended Southern Ill.  University 5 1/2 years majoring in music.  While at S.I.U.,  he went on a 4 month U.S.O. tour with an entertainment troupe touring Europe and Morocco.

Doc's high school days were in a river town, Cairo , Ill.  His blues and R&B roots come from there as a kid where he jammed with the "colored guys"  who performed at local clubs like Stella's Rib Crib, The Oasis Club, and the Chicken Pluckin' plant ( a real chicken pluckin' plant).  Doc says these guys were the real thing and it was an honor to be accepted by them.
